Experience

Garrett McLean is the Assistant Coach at the St. Thomas Aquinas. He joined the staff after six years as the Head Coach at York HS. In those six years, the Wildcats produced two Academic All-Americans, dozens of Western Maine All-Academic and All-Conference selections with alums matriculating to programs such as Endicott, Bates and Clark.

Prior to that, Garrett served as an Assistant Coach at Bridgton Academy. With BA being an all post-graduate school, there was a heavy emphasis on recruiting and college placement of student-athletes in college programs like Jacksonville, Marist and LeMoyne.

McLean also served as the Defensive Coordinator at Westminster University in Salt Lake City, UT before coming to Maine. During his time in SLC, the Griffins defense surrendered under seven goals per game, achieved a Top 10 ranking in the MCLA and played for a National Championship before transitioning to Division II.

Originally from Randolph, NJ, Garrett is a graduate of Wheaton College. McLean was a defenseman for the Lyons and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art with a minor in Education.
