Weekly Faceoff Training at NH Sportsdome
The faceoff is the most specialized skill in boys lacrosse — and the most under-trained. Most programs run one or two faceoff reps per week between other drills. 4 Leaf Faceoff Summit is an entire session dedicated to nothing but faceoffs — held every Tuesday evening at NH Sportsdome in Hooksett from November through February. Grades 3–12, open to any club or school program. If your son plays in the X, this is the highest-quality faceoff-specific training in Northern New England.
What Is the Faceoff Summit?
Weekly faceoff training sessions held at NH Sportsdome in Hooksett, NH. Sessions are 90 minutes of cutting-edge faceoff mechanics and technique — grip, clamp, rake, scoop, first step explosion, live reps, counters, and game-situation reads. Players compete against each other and receive individual feedback from coaches who have studied the faceoff at the collegiate level.
Included in 4 Leaf Player Tuition for travel team players. Open to players from any organization at $75 per session.
Why the Faceoff Is Worth Training Separately
- The faceoff directly controls possession — winning 60% of faceoffs is the equivalent of an extra possession every two minutes
- It is the only 1v1 skill in lacrosse that happens in a fixed, predictable setup — making it the most coachable and trainable position in the sport
- Most programs allocate 5–10 minutes per week to faceoff work — Faceoff Summit gives faceoff specialists 90 minutes of dedicated reps per session
- Faceoff specialists are among the most recruited position players in high school lacrosse — the position is a genuine college recruiting differentiator

- Rake variations — inside rake, outside rake, counter rake
- Ground ball awareness after the clamp — scoop decisions, body position
Speed & Explosive First Step Out of the X
- Hip explosion out of the crouch position
- First-step timing relative to the whistle — early commitment vs. reaction
- Separation from the opposing faceoff midfielder in the first two steps
Reads & Counter-Moves
- Reading the opposing player's pre-set position to anticipate their move
- Counter clamp, counter rake sequences
- Adjusting in-session based on what the opponent is doing

Every session includes competitive live faceoff reps — player vs. player at full speed — with in-rep coaching feedback. Improvement happens in live reps, not just drill explanations.
Frequently Asked Questions — Faceoff Summit
Is the Faceoff Summit only for boys?
Yes — faceoffs are a boys lacrosse position. Girls lacrosse uses the draw, which is covered in the 4 Leaf Draw Summit (see link below).
What grade levels attend Faceoff Summit?
Grades 3–12. Younger players (3rd–6th grade) are grouped appropriately during live rep sessions so they are matched with players at a similar development level.
Does my son need prior faceoff experience to attend?
No. The Faceoff Summit covers fundamentals through advanced technique. Players with no prior faceoff training will start with grip and basic mechanics. Experienced faceoff specialists will work on advanced counters and live game-situation reads.
How often should my son attend?
Weekly attendance produces the fastest improvement. Faceoff technique requires repetition to become muscle memory — attending once a month yields minimal results. We recommend committing to at least three sessions before evaluating progress.
