KIERAN MCGOVERN

Bates men’s lacrosse head coach Dan Annino, announced the addition of Kieran McGovern to his staff as an assistant coach. He will join fellow assistant, Andrew Smistad, for the 2024 campaign.

“I am incredibly excited to welcome Coach McGovern to Bates,” said Annino. “Kieran has an infectious energy, enthusiasm, and passion for the game that will serve him well in his new career. Kieran also brings to Lewiston the wealth of knowledge he’s accumulated in bringing a program to the biggest stage in our sport, not just as an All-American caliber student-athlete, but also as a leader and a ‘coach on the field.’ We couldn’t be more fortunate to have him join our program.”

McGovern joins the garnet and white having completed a stellar collegiate career at Union College where he earned a pair of USILA All-American selections while leading the Dutchmen to the 2022 NCAA Division III title game vs. the Rochester Insititute of Technology (RIT). Receiving a Bachelor of Arts in political science as a member of the Union class of 2022, McGovern is a three-time selection to the Liberty League All-Academic team and the Liberty League All-Conference squad. A team captain his junior and senior seasons, Kieran also recorded a pair of appearances on the IMLCA All-East Region roster.

A Dean’s List selection (2021) and member of the Eta Sigma Phi honor society, Kieran served as a member of the Union College Student Investment Fund and the Pre-Law Society.

The New York City native served as an investment funds junior paralegal with Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Manhattan, while also working as a legal assistant for the Law Office of Edward J. Salvo in Schenectady, N.Y. upon graduation.
