Why Coaches Love Sixes

Sixes is the perfect early-season format for town programs:

  • More touches for every player — constant involvement
  • Smaller rosters make it easier to form multiple teams
  • Fast-paced play accelerates decision-making and skill development
  • Low logistics, high energy — get in, play hard, go home
  • Great tune-up before the traditional spring schedule begins

What Is Sixes?

Sixes is a fast, Olympic-style version of lacrosse designed for development and flow:

  • 6 players on the field (1 goalie + 5 field players)
  • No specialist positions — everyone plays both ways
  • 30-second shot clock
  • 8-minute running quarters
  • Continuous action with limited stoppages

This format keeps kids moving, engaged, and competing every shift.

Tournament Format

  • Minimum 3 games guaranteed for every team
  • Pool play followed by championship rounds
  • Top teams in each division advance to championship games

Team Rosters

  • Recommended roster size: ~12 players
  • Ideal for splitting large age groups into multiple teams
  • Maximizes reps and minimizes sideline time
